In a close fought race Michael Devinsof the Eire Og Cycling Club won the 2011 County Sligo Time trial Championships.
Devins took the gold medal in the Division 1 Championships, which was the most competitive of the divisions with 3 riders on the night going under 19 minutes on the Rosses Point road. First Eamon Mc Andrew of Sligo Tri burst though the finish line with a time of 18:56 to take the provisional lead. Next over the line Paul Keogh of Innisfree Wheelers recorded a time of 18:34, a new course record. With Devins the last rider out on the course his arrival was eagerly anticipated by the large group of spectators. As he hit the finishing straight the countdown began and he powered over the line in 18:26 to take the Championships by the smallest of margins and set a course record that is sure to stand for the next 12 months :)
In the other divisions there was also lots of exciting racing. The over 60 section saw the return to racing of Tony Mooney. And in the ladies section newcomer Leona Moran put in a strong ride against the more experienced Saoirse O Donoghue and Theresa Kilgannon.
