Synopsis
In 2008 Alan Heary, Race Director for Race Around Ireland, decided to prove that, with only six months training and resources normally only available for professional teams, he could take four amateur cyclists and get them to finish what is considered to be the toughest bicycle race in the World – the Race Across America.
With the help of top cycling coach Padraig Marrey and one of Ireland’s most successful cycling managers PJ Nolan they embarked on an journey that would put them in the record books.
It was on his return from this adventure in RAAM, that the Race Around Ireland was born!
Come along to meet the racers, mentors and crew members who took part in this amazing accomplishment.
